Tool review

This project was to review all of the tools we have used previously.  I chose five photos that I'd taken that I wanted to put on the background (fence) and used different methods to cut them out and make them look good.  I used the quick selection tool to cut out both people by starting in the middle of them and going outward.  I then refined the edge to make it look a little smoother.  I have to do this after cutting everything else out too.  I used the elliptical marquee tool to cut out the flower.  I made a circle and moved it over the flower by holding the space bar.  I used the polygonal lasso tool to cut out the sign on the fence.  I started in a corner and drew straight lines to all of the edges until I was back where I started.  The magic wand tool was used to cut out the tree branch in the corner.  I just clicked on the branch and it selected the whole thing.  The layer mask tool is used to cover up part of pictures I didn't want showing.  I just used the paint brush and the black color to do this.  I had to make sure to resize the image as well.

Pop Art 2x2

For this image all I did was made a new file and copied the picture I already had four times.  Then I clicked on hue and saturation and changed the colors in each section.  I had to make sure all of the images were lined up and then cropped the image so it looked like it does above.

Pop Art

For this project, we were making images that looked like pop art.  First I chose the picture I wanted to use and then I made it black and white by changing the settings in the channel mixer.  Then I clicked threshold to make the entire image black and white and have a different effect.  It looked exactly like the image above just without colors.  Next I added the colors I wanted by using the paintbrush tool and remembering to click the multiply button so that the paint went behind the black in the photo.  After that the final step was clicking sketch and then adding Ben Day dots to change the effect a little bit.

Change My Look

For this project, I was doing the same thing and using the same tools as I used in the last project.  I chose a picture I liked and changed the hair color by using a layer mask and the paint brush, and changed the eye color by selecting the eye with the elliptical marquee tool.  I then added three extra items (a ring, a pumpkin, and a bail of hay).
For this image I did the exact same thing as the image above.  I added earrings, a dolphin, and the sunset.

Change Your Look

For this project, I was practicing changing the hair and eye colors of somebody.  To change the color of the eyes, I selected the iris of the eye by using the elliptical marquee tool.  Then I had to deselect the eyelid using the polygonal lasso tool.  I then chose the eye color I wanted by sliding the bars back and forth.  To change the hair color in this picture, I used a layer mask and painted the color onto the original hair color.

Montage

For this project, I first had to choose the theme I wanted my pictures to be.  I chose beach.  Then I found and saved some pictures on the internet that I wanted to use as a background and on top of it.  I used tools that I have previously used to put it all together.  I dragged all of the images over to the background and had to cut some of them out using the quick selection tool.  I used the drop shadow effect to add a shadow behind most of the images.  i also used the layer mask to hide parts of the images.  The last tool I used was the photo filter tool to change the tone of the images.

Montage

For this project, we were practicing using a few different tools we have learned to use in the past.  We started with a postcard background.  Then I cut out the coin using the elliptical marquee tool and copied it onto the postcard.  I dragged the rest of the images onto the same page and used the photo filter to make one of the photos sepia toned.  I also used the layer mask tool to cover up leaves from the roses.  I also used the drop shadow tool to add a little bit of a shadow to most of the images.  The last tool I used was the outer glow tool to add a white glow outside of the words on the image.

Layer Mask

For this project, we were practicing using the layer mask tool.  This tool is used to add different layers to a background image and hide parts of images to blend the image into one.  I just chose the images I wanted to use and used the layer adjustment tool and the brush tool to blend the pictures to the way I wanted them.  I also use the opacity tool to make the original sky blend with the sunset that I added.  I made sure that everything was the way I wanted and looked as real as possible before finishing.

Landscape

For this project, we were given a picture of a landscape and a few tools to cut out pieces.  I decided to make a house, so I used different tools to make the different shapes and cut out the parts of the original image.  The rectangular marquee tool makes squares and rectangles, the elliptical marquee tool makes circles and ovals, the lasso tool makes any shape you want, and the polygonal lasso tool makes any shape with straight sides.  I used these tools and copied and pasted the parts and arranged them into this picture.

Magic Wand

For this project, we were practicing using the magic wand tool.  To use it, I selected one of the shapes on the blue background, and then copied it and pasted it onto the white side.  I repeated this with the rest of the shapes until they were all on the white background.  Once that was done, I resized and rearranged the shapes to make the image on the right.  Once I had it the way I wanted it, I saved the project.

Layer Adjustments

The layer adjustment tool I used for this image is called black and white.  Once the adjustment is applied, I changed some of the settings by sliding from one color to the next.  This just makes some of the parts darker, lighter, and different shades.
The tool I used to make this image look like this is the brightness and contrast tool.  This makes images less dull and adds some color.  I just applied the adjustment and slid the bars to make the picture look exactly how I wanted it.  I brightened the photo and made some of the colors stand out more.
The layer adjustment I used for this photo is called the selective color tool.  This can change the tint of the picture to make it more on the red side, like it is here, or any other color I select.
For this image, I used the color balance tool.  It changes the tone of the colors of the photo.  I chose to make this picture more yellow and brown than it was before.
On this photo, I used the hue and saturation tool.  It can change the hue of the picture, this one I chose to make mostly green toned.  There is also a little bit of red in this image.  I just slid the bars to the way I liked the photo.
This adjustment changes the photo in a way that is completely different from all of the other adjustments.  It basically reverses the colors in the picture so that it is the complete opposite of how it was before.  This image used to have a yellow flower and green leaves and grass.  It is called the invert tool.

For this image, I used the photo filter tool.  This tool seems to make the photo a little bit clearer and also changes the tones of some of the colors in the picture.  I made this picture more sepia toned, so it looks more yellow than green like it was before I edited it.
I used the vibrance tool on this photo.  It brings out the colors in the image and makes the picture less dull and clearer than it is before it is edited.  I chose the amount of vibrance by sliding the bar back and forth until it looked the way that I wanted it.

Crazy Combos

To do this project, "Crazy Combos," first I needed to go on the internet and find some pictures of animals that I liked and save the ones I thought I might use for the project.  Then I went through the pictures and chose the ones I wanted to use.  I opened them in photoshop and used the quick selection tool to cut out the part of the animal that I wanted, and made sure to soften the edges by refining them.  Then I put all of the parts of the animals together and added accessories the same way that I added the other parts.  Then I added a background by putting a picture behind all of the layers and fitting it to the page.  Last, I chose a name (leopard, dog, and lemur added together), and used the type tool to put it on the picture and chose the font, size and color that I wanted.  I then saved the completed project.
